Big win for Cats
ALLANSFORD’S senior footballers thrilled their home crowd last weekend with a 64-point victory over South Rovers.

The Cats, currently sitting sixth on the Warrnambool District ladder – just percentage below Russells Creek – got off to a strong start, adding six goals to the scoreboard while containing South to 22 points.
The home side continued its momentum in the second quarter, adding a further five majors to go into the main break with a handy 38-point lead.
The last half saw the Cats dominate all over the ground, kicking seven goals, seven behinds while containing South to just three goals, five.
Final scores were Allansford 18.13.121 to South Rovers 8.9.57. Best players for the home team were Zavier Mungean, Aiden Gordon, Zach Jamieson, Robert Hare, Mitchell Gristede and Bradley Edge.
Hare had a great day out in front of goals, booting six majors, and was well supported by Flynn Gleeson, Gristede and Cooper McLean who each added two.
Bradley Bull, Brady Coutts, Cooper Day, Zavier Mungean, Lachlan Read and Bradley Williams all scored one goal apiece.
In other round six Warrnambool District games last weekend, Nirranda enjoyed a 99-point win over Dennington, Merrivale crushed the Timboon Demons by 142 points, Panmure were 63-point victors over Russells Creek and Old Collegians suffered a 171-point loss at the hands of Kolora Noorat.
A scoreless last quarter proved costly for Allansford’s reserves last weekend, going down to South Rovers by eight points, 5.6.36 to 6.9.45.
Best for the Cats were Wayne Parry, Conor Dickson, Jeremy Ellis, Dylan Dorman, Darren Kelly and Brett Membrey. Goals went to Ben Lenehan (2) and one each from Kalin Jans, Membrey and Shaun Watson.
In the under 18s match at Allansford, the Cats were beaten by South Rovers 6.3.39 to 11.5.71. Malachi Draffen, Ethan Klein, Kade Gordon, Jackson Van Ginneken, Dylan Lake and Locke Klein were named best for the Cats while for South, Joel Arms, Jordan Cashin, Xavier Gercovich, Baylin McColl, Flynn Torney and Harry Jenkins were best.
The Cats’ netballers had a great day out, winning five of the six games played last weekend.
Results were as follows: A grade – South Rovers defeated Allansford 45-44. A reserve – Allansford defeated South Rovers 32-28.
B grade – Allansford defeated South Rovers 38-31. 17 and under – Allansford defeated South Rovers 19-16. 15 and under – Allansford defeated South Rovers 23-8. 13 and under – Allansford defeated South Rovers 25-6.
