As tennis enthusiasts across the district count down the weeks until the Australian Open in January, the Australian Open trophy tour ‘AO on the Road’ arrived in town on Saturday.

This year, the coveted Norman Brookes Challenge Cup and Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup will visit 18 communities across the state, giving tennis fans the rare chance to see these prestigious trophies up close.

This popular tour celebrates tennis and community, offering fans of all ages the chance to experience the excitement of the Australian Open.

Tennis legend John Fitzgerald made a special appearance at the Warrnambool Lawn Tennis Club, meeting fans and speaking of his experiences in the sport, while many local players and tennis followers enjoyed the opportunity to have their photos taken with the prestigious silverware.

Live music, cardio tennis and a barbecue was also enjoyed as part of the day’s events.
