The reviewing officer for the final parade was RAAF Squadron Leader (retired) Bernard Farley.

Squadron Leader Farley was greeted by the Parade Commander who invited Squadron Leader Farley to inspect the Cadets of 413 Squadron.

This year has proven to be a very busy and successful one, providing many opportunities for the squadron’s young members to challenge themselves and to participate in individual and team-based adventure training and local community events.

During the year cadets participated in ceremonial community services on ANZAC Day, Vietnam Veterans Day and Remembrance Day.

Vietnam Veterans Day this year was of particular note when, at the invitation of 413 Squadron, General Sir Peter Cosgrove ex-Governor General and current Patron of the Australian Defence Cadets visited and talked to cadets and families from all three services – Army, Navy and Airforce.

He was particularly inspiring, and his presence was warmly received by all.

Cadets have also participated in weekends at RAAF Williams Laverton and Point Cook, attended the 4WG Annual Parade and Drill Competition at RAAF Base Point Cook and were represented at the 4WG Bivouac at Gembrook.

They also had another two bivouacs at Kanna Wangi Camp Ground at Curdievale, held a Squadron Bivouac based out of 413 SQN in Warrnambool and participated in Air Experience Flights at RAAF Point Cook, taking to the air in the AAFC Diamond DA40 NG training aircraft and more recently had the experience of flying the Diamonds at Warrnambool Airport during their Personal Aviation Experience flights.

Also among the many highlights of the year for cadets was a visit to the Victorian Police Dog Squad at Attwood, a tour of the private flying school at Essendon Fields and attending the 4WG annual shooting competition at Melbourne International Shooting Centre.

During a special ceremony in Warrnambool, several 413 Squadron awards were presented to cadets.

Drill Team Award: Cadet Sergeant Jacob Denis Phillp.
