The first event for 2025 once again proved a huge success for the repair café volunteers and visitors.

Dozens of household items were brought in to the café to be repaired or fixed by volunteers.

This included a vast array of jewellery, clothing, electrical items and others.

One of the items included a double pram with a broken folding mechanism which had rendered the pram useless.

However, volunteer ‘Bill’ took the item apart and identified the broken piece.

Volunteer ‘Gerard’ used his 3D printer to fabricate the broken part and the pram now has a new lease of life – and one very happy owner.

Other items repaired last weekend included a pair of tracksuit pants that needed hemming, a padded bicycle seat that needed stitching, re-linking two bracelets and necklace, mending a cardigan, shirt and school uniform, and fixing the handbrake on a child’s buggy.

The café area was also buzzing, with ‘Jennifer’ providing guidance to three young volunteers, Sadie, Shamsa and Stevie.

The dynamic team were serving hot tea, coffee, cake and biscuits to visitors and volunteers throughout the morning.

Warrnambool Repair Cafe will host events on the first Saturday of the month throughout 2025, with the next event scheduled for Saturday, March 1.

The repair café can be found at the new West Warrnambool Neighbourhood House facility in Pectan Avenue.
