Cash boost for jetty

ANGLERS will soon have an updated jetty in Port Fairy with Better Boating Victoria announcing funding this week.

The Port Fairy project was one of 35 across the state to receive funding.

Minister for Outdoor Recreation Sonya Kilkenny announced a $2.75million investment across the projects designed to improve facilities as well as undertaking dredging to facilitate greater access during lower tides and water levels.

The grants were awarded through the Victorian government’s Recreational Boating Structural Maintenance and Dredging and Access Grants programs and funded via the reinvestment of boaters’ recreational licence and registration fees.

“This is a great example of how reinvesting licence and registration fees is improving the experience for boaters and making getting out on the water easier and more accessible,” Ms Kilkenny said.

“With projects right across Victoria covering a range of improvements, we’re building bigger and better facilities for everyone in the community to enjoy.”

Moyne Shire Council received $50,000 for the Port Fairy jetty upgrades. The shire also received a further $50,000 to design a jetty replacement at the Curdievale boat ramp.
