Committee members needed

MOYNE Shire has a number of management and advisory committees that oversee strategic decision making for certain council assets and services.

By Staff Writer

With a new four-year term underway, council is inviting people from the community to nominate as volunteer members of the following committees:

Port of Port Fairy Delegated Committee of Management, Port Fairy Historic Lifeboat Advisory Committee, Mt Shadwell Quarry Advisory Committee and the Economic Development and Advisory Committee (EDAC).

EDAC is made up of council and business/industry representatives to promote a culture of economic development in Moyne from local and geographically-balanced industry perspectives.

Mayor Cr Karen Foster said that community involvement in these committees would lead to better outcomes.

“These committees contribute and have vital input into key matters relating to their respective areas, so it’s vital that local voices have a say in how they are run,” Cr Foster said.

“We encourage anyone who has an interest or skills they can share that will help oversee and improve these community assets; involvement is not onerous,” she said.

“The Port of Port Fairy is an important commercial, visitor and resident asset, and we know there must be many in the community with a connection to the port and the sea.

“The Port Fairy historic lifeboat advisory committee oversees operations, maintenance and usage of a unique vessel with a direct link to the town’s maritime history.”

Nominations are open now and will close on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 5pm.

These can be made at www.moyne.vic.gov.au/CommitteeNomination.

Nomination forms are also available as hard copies at Moyne Shire customer service offices in Mortlake and Port Fairy.
