Country Week victory for Gold
WARRNAMBOOL Moyne Gold has taken out the under 17 Country Week title for 2024/25.
After a successful round of matches throughout the week, Gold faced South West in last week’s grand final.
Gold won the toss and sent their opponents in to bat at Reid Oval on Friday.
Thomas Bellman showed great versatility with the ball, taking 5/9 from eight overs and proving a challenge for the South West batsmen.
South West finished its 40 overs with a score of 9/138.
In reply, Warrnambool Moyne Gold chased down the total in 34 overs to reach 4/139.
Openers Cooper Herry (16) and Ryan Mottram (47) were strong at the crease.
They were ably supported by team-mates Mitchell McCosh, with an unbeaten 34 runs from 63 deliveries, Josh Slater (22) and captain Charlie James who hit seven from 15 balls.
Along with Bellman, other wicket takers for Warrnambool Moyne Gold were Ryan Mottram 1/17, Cooper Herry 1/12 and Charlie James 1/28.
