Dancers donate $5000 to hospital
SOUTH West Healthcare (SWH) has this week received a $5,000 donation thanks to the generosity of a group of local dancers.
Members of the Warrnambool and District Dance Club officially handed over their donation to SWH community partnerships manager Suzan Morey on Wednesday afternoon.
“The money was raised by members, both current and former, who have attended our weekly dances at the Christ Church Hall over the years,” club president Doug Byron said.
“Last year we donated $1000 to the hospital and this year we decided to donate a large portion of the funds we have been raising since our formation back in 1976 to the hospital.
“It’s a marvellous local facility that so many people benefit from. We spoke with several of our former members and we all agreed that the hospital would be the ideal recipient of our donation.
“After all, at some stage or another we all utilise the hospital and to have this money go towards an important piece of equipment is wonderful.”
Accepting the donation on behalf of SWH, Ms Morey said the money would go towards the current appeal for an assisted CPR machine.
“This equipment will be used by our team, not only for patients who suffer a cardiac arrest but also for visitors and staff who also find themselves in need,” she said.
“We are extremely appreciative of the dance club members for their support and to receive such a sizeable donation is just incredible. It is an extremely generous donation and one that is very much appreciated.”
