The Warrnambool Lawn Tennis Club on Pertobe Road was a hive of activity on Sunday, with females of all ages enjoying a range of sports.

For many participants the day offered the chance to learn about new sports and fitness programs on offer across the district.

This community-driven event was dedicated to empowering women and girls to explore sports and fitness in a supportive, inclusive environment.

With sports participation among women in the south west region declining from 53.4 per cent in 2017 to just 32 per cent in 2024, the event addressed an important issue while showcasing the impact of sports on confidence, resilience and well-being.

Throughout the day participants were able to learn about the many and varied range of sports available for females across the south west and were able to try some of the sports and activities on offer.

This included boxing for fitness, pickleball, table tennis, touch football and more.

Participants also enjoyed live music and food trucks.
