Yesterday (Thursday) saw the screening of ‘The Polar Express’ and ‘Fred Claus’ but for those who missed out, the Civic Green will also be the place to be today for an 11am screening of ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ and then ‘Elf’ from 1pm.

All movies are free, with no bookings required.

Warrnambool mayor Cr Ben Blain said council was able to fund the screen via the Victorian Government’s COVIDSafe Outdoor Activation Fund - the same fund used to purchase the projectors currently beaming Christmas imagery onto CBD buildings.

“We’ve been able to use this funding to invest in really versatile pieces of equipment that we will get a lot of use out of for years to come,” Cr Blain said.

“Staff completed the final tests of the new outdoor screen last week, so we thought ‘why not put it to use straight away and play some Christmas movies?’”

“Christmas movies are one of the best ways to get into the spirit of the season and we’re really happy to be able to hold these screenings and invite everyone to come along and join the fun.

“The weather forecast looks good, so bring your picnic rug or camping chairs and settle in on the Civic Green for a classic Christmas movie on the big screen.”
