HUNDREDS of visitors joined with local families to celebrate the Koroit Irish Festival last weekend.
The town was awash with green as festival goers enjoyed a wide range of activities, food stalls and entertainment.
The sun was shining, the smiles were wide and the parade was colourful as the theatre, Village Green and the local streets came alive in celebration and song.
The windows of Koroit’s local stores were decorated with shamrocks, leprechauns and Irish- themed merchandise and several street stalls were also set up as part of the festivities.
Koroit’s village green staged free entertainment for children while entertainers such as Maria Forde,
The Rummagers and Apolline kept visitors entertained.
The Koroit Irish Cultural Trail, a new addition to this year’s program, also proved popular as did the ‘Kortraits’ art exhibition which gave young artists an opportunity to display their work, telling stories about the people and places of Koroit.
Large crowds lined Commercial Road for the festival’s main attraction – its parade.
Bagpipes, classic automobiles and members of the Christine Ayres School of Irish Dancing, the Koroit and District Historical Society and the local kindergarten all took part in the parade.
Sunday’s program included a Gaelic Games Day at Victoria Park.
