Gators strong with the bat
STRONG performances in front of the wickets by Allansford-Panmure’s top order batsmen earned the Gators a round two win last weekend.
Winning the toss and electing to bat against Warrnambool, the Gators were quick to get some runs on the board.
Opener Declan Bourke hit his way to an effective 51 runs while team-mates Bailey Smith (42), Thomas Sinnott (33) and Manulak Sajan Fernando (20) were also strong.
Warrnambool’s Dinusha Jayasinghe was effective with the ball, taking 3/31 from nine overs while captain Anthony Love also took a wicket, finishing the day with 1/29 off seven.
In reply Warrnambool were restricted to 10/113 in the 41st over, with opener Jason Greer (4), Jordan Cashin (10) and Anthony Love (10) the only batsmen to reach double figures.
Simon Richardson had a great day out with the ball, taking 5/26 off nine while Archie Poumako took 3/16 off his seven overs.
Other round two winners were Mortlake over Merrivale, Koroit defeated Nirranda Titans and Hawkesdale went down to Noorat Terang.
Round three of the Warrnambool Moyne Championship division this weekend will see the Gators head to Hawkesdale, Koroit will be at home to Noorat Terang, Nirranda Titans will host Mortlake and Warrnambool will host Merrivale.
