Gift attracts quality fields

TALENTED Warrnambool runner Grace Carter has continued to thrive on the athletics track this season, taking out the final of the women’s 70m handicap event at last weekend’s Warrnambool Gift.

With events ranging in distance from the 70metre sprint through to 1600 metres, catering for athletes from under 14s through to veterans, the day attracted a large number of entrants and spectators to Reid Oval.

A highlight of the day was the running of both the men’s and women’s 120m gifts.

The men’s Gift was won by Brad Hunt, followed by Kevin Brittain in second and Maki Loukeris third.

In the women’s race, Chloe Mannix-Power took line honours, followed by Julia Phillips in second and Ebony Newton third.

Open

1600m: 1st Josh Bail, 2nd Mark Andrews, 3rd Richard Wade.

800m: 1st Cameron Konnis, 2nd Charlie Sutherland, 3rd Lachlan Milligan.

Men

300m: 1st Aidan Green, 2nd Jay Blake, 3rd Dashiell Muir.

70m: 1st Maki Loukeris, 2nd Peter Thoroughgood, 3rd Daniel Mouratch.

Women

300m: 1st Gemma Fairclough, 2nd Ruby Crisp, 3rd Grace O’Dwyer.

70m: 1st Grace Carter, 2nd Kayla Montagner, 3rd Ruby Crisp.

Masters (35 plus)

120m: 1st Vic Sharma, 2nd Mark Glassborow, 3rd Daniel Martin.

800m: 1st Kim McDonough, 2nd Brendan Bailey, 3rd Christopher Brown.

Local football netball clubs also took part in the day’s program, competing in several relay races.
