THERE was plenty to chirp about at the Warrnambool Table Tennis Centre last weekend.

South West Budgerigar Society’s ‘Budgies in the Bool’ annual show Grand Champion and Best Adult Bird is a Spangle Sky Blue.

The centre, on Cramer Street, played host to the South West Budgerigar Society’s ‘Budgies in the Bool’ event.

According to organiser Ray Slade, the weekend attracted a large number of birds and visitors, some travelling from Melbourne and interstate.

Local children were invited to take along their feathered friends and find out who has the best pet budgie in Warrnambool.

Prizes were awarded for the chirpiest chatterbox, prettiest bird in town, friendliest budgie, sweetheart pair (budgie and owner) and best decorated cage.

Free face painting added to Saturday morning’s colourful activities for children while in the afternoon more than 268 entries were received for the show.

“The Budgerigar Society’s annual show on Saturday afternoon once again attracted some wonderful entries and we were thrilled with how the weekend went,” Mr Slade said.

“The activities concluded on Sunday with the auction of around 114 birds which was also livestreamed.”
