Hampden names ‘team of the year’

TERANG Mortlake’s Ben Kenna was named coach of the Hampden League’s 2023 football ‘Team of the Year.’

The team was announced during the league’s annual presentation and vote count which was live streamed to clubs last Sunday. 

North Warrnambool’s Patty Paton was named as runner and Steve Blacker as umpire (Western District Umpires Association). 

The team comprised: 

B: Sam Thompson (SW), Jake Wilson (P) and Gus Bourke (TM). 

HB: Jarryd Lewis (NWE), Sam Cowling (W) and Joe Arundell (captain, TM). 

C: Mac Petersen (K), Kaine Mercovich (P/F) and Hamish Sinnott (C). 

HF: Paddy O’Sullivan (K), Matt Sully (P/F) and Ryley Hutchins (TM). 

FF: Jackson Grundy (NWE), Will Kain (TM) and Paul Pekin (Cob). 

Foll: Ollie Bridgewater (SW), Pat Smith (Cob) and Jett Bermingham (NWE). 

Int: Will White (SW), Cam Spence (Camp), Bailey Jenkinson (NWE), Dan Nicholson (SW) and Taine Morris (HK). 

In the 2023 ‘Netball Team of the Year’, South Warrnambool’s Will Jamison was named coach while fellow Rooster Clare Rea was named team manager.

WD: Meg Kelson, South Warrnambool. 

C: Ally O’Connor, South Warrnambool. 

WA: Isabella Rea, South Warrnambool.

GS: Hollie Phillips, South Warrnambool. 

Subs – Amy Wormald (Warrnambool), Maddison Vardy (North Warrnambool), Annie Blackburn (South Warrnambool) and Emily Finch (Cobden).
