Healthy lifestyle among the plants
WORKING in the nursery at Worn Gundidj has given Dylan the opportunity to live a healthier lifestyle.

Previously caught up in a spiralling drug addiction, Dylan is one of several ‘success stories’ at the Warrnambool-based business.
“I had a pretty serious drug addiction about seven or eight years ago and went through a rehab program in Melbourne,” Dylan said.
“But I’m proud to say I’ve now been sober for more than 20 months and I’m really turning my life around.” Dylan’s introduction to the nursery came about in February last year when he started doing some volunteer work.
This quickly turned into a part-time position and he hasn’t looked back since.
“I really enjoy working here (at the nursery); we have a great team and the customers are really nice,” he said.
“My favourite plant is the strawberry gum. I like the smell of the leaves when you rub your fingers on them and you can actually turn this into ice-cream which is delicious.”
Dylan and the team at Worn Gundidj Nursery in Rooneys Road are happy to chat with visitors who are keen to learn more about traditional bush tucker and the best uses for each plant in the nursery.
“We use local native seeds, which are sourced from diverse eco-systems, to propagate our hardy plant range,” Dylan said.
The nursery is open from 9am-4.30pm weekdays. Phone 5561 5315 for more information or to place your order. Alternatively, check out the nursery’s website at www.worngundidj.org.au/nursery
