Help shape Moyne’s environmental practices
MOYNE Shire Council is starting work on its new Environment and Sustainability Strategy, aimed at guiding council’s environmental initiatives and sustainable practices for the next 10 years.
To support the development of the strategy, council is establishing a temporary advisory committee to provide valuable feedback and insights.
Council is calling on passionate individuals within the community to express their interest in joining this advisory committee.
Mayor Cr Karen Foster said Moyne Shire was committed to safeguarding its unique natural environment for future generations.
“This strategy will be a blueprint for action, helping us to reduce environmental impacts, adapt to climate change, and support a sustainable and resilient community,” Cr Foster said.
“This is a unique opportunity for residents to play an active role in shaping the future of the shire’s environmental sustainability efforts.
“We look forward to hearing from individuals who are eager to share their ideas and expertise.”
Cr Foster said the environment and sustainability strategy advisory committee would include two Moyne Shire councillors, Cr Jordan Lockett and Cr Lisa Ryan, and a minimum of two and up to eight community members.
Extensive community consultation will be held throughout the development of the strategy.
People can register at Engage Moyne to receive updates on the project.
More information and expressions of interest can be made at: https://engage.moyne.vic.gov.au/environment-and-sustainability-strategy
Deadline to apply to join the advisory committee is 5pm on Friday, January 24, 2025.
