Indoor bowls continues

TWENTY-seven teams are currently contesting the summer pennant of indoors bowls at Warrnambool.

The competition heats up each Monday night at the ARC stadium in Caramut Road, where the teams represent 10 different clubs.

Members from Dennington, Koroit, Port Fairy, Allansford, Wannon Park, Heytesbury, City Memorial, Grangeburn, Cooramook and Lawn Teams compete in three divisions each week.

More than 100 bowlers hit the mats each week, producing some great results.

The last week of regular season play was completed on Monday, February 5.

The semi-finals begin next week, with preliminary finals on Monday, February 18 and the grand finals to be played on Monday, February 26.

In division one, Heytesbury Honeys,(skipped by Allen Armistead) finished on top with Rob McCrabb’s Allansford Cougars in second spot;, giving each of them the double chance.

Third was Maureen Drennan’s Wannon Park Dogs and fourth place, Barb Draffen’s Allansford Panthers.

On top in division two was Koroit Hornets, ahead of second-placed Allansford Jaguars, third Dennington Dashers and in fourth, Port Fairy Seagulls.

The minor premier in division three was Dennington Devils, second Allansford Pumas, third Koroit Jets and fourth was Grangeburn.

Finals commence on Monday, February 12 at 7.30pm

Division 1

Second semi-final: Heytesbury Honeys (Allen Armistead, Peter Baker, Lara Mungean and Brett Mungean) v Allansford Cougars (Rob McCrabb, Doug Byron, Jacinta Marney and Vince Lenehan).

First semi-final: Wannon Park Dogs (Maureen Drennan, Rex Harris, Dorothy Gleeson and Ann Yates) v Allansford Panthers (Barb Draffen, George Draffen, Rita Mungean and Robert Kermond)

Division two: second semi-final -Koroit Hornets (Thelma Johnstone, Debbie Keane, Vivian O’Grady and Ben Gardiner) v Allansford Jaguars (Ian Heatley, Ian Grummett, Colin Ruddle and Connie Ruddle).

First semi-final - Dennington Dashers (Scott Pierce, Shane Brooks, Kevin Buck and Shirley Hogan) v Port Fairy Seagulls (Gill Phillips, Maurice Mahoney, Des Phillips and Bryan Arnold)

Division three: second semi-final - Dennington Devils Keith Cameron, Trevor Crow, Cody Childs and Michael Childs) v Allansford Pumas (Clarrie Matthews, Mick Holloway, Ken Cathie and Shirley Ladhams).

First semi-final - Koroit Jets (Max Heard, Justin Rasmussen, Peter Bowron and Doreen Bowron) v Grangeburn (Rylan Pech, Nettie Ryan, Carol Dunn and Jules Pollock)

Spectators are welcome at the stadium from 7.30pm.
