Knee wins A grade
BRUCE Knee finished on 37 points to win A grade at the East Framlingham Golf Club last Saturday.
Saturday’s stableford event was round three of the Summer Cup.
Knee won on countback from Peter Harlock, also on 37 points, followed by Murray Drake (37), John Eccles (36) and Leigh Chilton (36).
B grade was won by Trevor Blackley on 43 points, followed by Jim Lewis (36), Peter Clark (35), Trevor Williams (34) and Ray Eccles (34).
Julie Mahney finished the day on 35 points to win the ladies’ competition.
Louise Cameron was in second place on 33, followed by Barbara Hill on 31, Anne Grenfell (31) and Thelma Inverarity (29).
The social winner was Tony Kenna.
Nearest the pins: 3rd Nic Smith, 6th Glen Tracey, 7th Shaun Giblin, 9th Tony Kenna, super hole on the 3rd Nic Smith.
Next week will be stableford, summer cup round four.
The ladies’ stableford, played last Tuesday (January 14) was contested by 16 players.
A grade was won by Julie Kenna on 41 points, followed by Barb Hill on 36.
Pauline Armstrong was the B grade winner with 37 points, with Leanne McCann the runner-up on 32.

Forty-eight players enjoyed a round of golf at the East Framlingham course last Wednesday.
The January 8 scratch competition was won by Gerard Eccles and Brett Willsher, both on 38.
The men’s handicap went to Ray Eccles 43-11-32, followed by Greg Kelly 44-12-32.
The men’s non-handicap scratch was won by Paddy Kenna 48 and Darren Hansford 48 while Daniel Ryan took out the non-handicap with 51-16-35.
Pauline Armstrong finished on 49 to win the ladies’ scratch event while the non-handicap went to Adriana Quattrocchi 55-22.5-32.5.
Amy Horfoll won the ladies’ non-handicap scratch event while the longest drives went to Murray Smith and Jen Hermann.
In the junior under 16 competition, Leo Beasley (41) won the scratch event while Jon Kelly won the handicap with 63-24-39.
Nearest the pins: 3rd Greg Kelly, 4th Trevor Blackley, 7th Brett Willsher and 9th Gerard Eccles.
The raffle was won by Trevor Blackley.
Among the players were guests from Belfast and Mildura.
