Koroit gets festive at ‘Carols at the Stage’
CHRISTMAS was alive and well in Koroit last Sunday as the town gathered to celebrate the festive season.
‘Carols at the Stage’ once again attracted a large crowd thanks to the combined efforts of the Koroit Irish Festival Committee and the Koroit Lions Club.
The list of entertainment was a feast of Christmas pleasure for carol goers who happily sang along to favourites such as ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’, ‘O Holy Night’ and ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’.
The selection of hits also included renditions of classic versions of Bing Crosby’s ‘It’s Beginning to look a lot like Christmas’ and Elvis Presley’s ‘Blue Christmas’.
The rain held off as children danced throughout the afternoon to the likes of entertainers such as Barbara Brooks, Danielle Stearman and Scott Cain as well as the Holiday Actors’ cast of ‘Legally Blonde’.
The children of the Koroit Kindergarten, Koroit’s St Patrick’s School and the South West Coast School of Performing Arts also took to the stage.
An Irish Santa arrived on a fire truck, decked out in green.
“The carols was such a wonderful community event, highlighting local talent and choirs from the schools and kindergartens,” event coordinator Adele McDonald said.
“We’re so fortunate to have such wonderful talent in this town. The Christmas spirit was alive and well with people young and old gathering to enjoy the carols and the community market.”
