Man charged over death of Warrnambool driver

DETECTIVES have charged a man following a fatal collision in Mortlake last week.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 26 year-old Penshurst man with dangerous driving causing death and failing to give way at an intersection.

He was bailed and will appear before the Warrnambool Magistrates Court today (Friday, December 20).

The charges follow reports a silver Toyota Hilux utility and a grey Holden Barina collided at the intersection of Castle Carey and Mortlake-Ararat roads at about 4pm on December 11.

The driver of the Holden, a 32 year-old Warrnambool man, died at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota, the accused man, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
