Melb to Warrnie this weekend
THIS weekend will see the running of the 109th edition of Australia’s greatest one day cycling classic – and the ‘Warrny’ will celebrate its 130th year.

Cycling enthusiasts and race fans of all ages are expected to once again converge on the streets of Warrnambool to cheer along their favourite riders.
The South West TAFE Port Campbell to Warrnambool Handicap is expected to arrive in Warrnambool from noon, while the Powercor Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic will hit the streets of Warrnambool from 1.15pm.
On Sunday Australia’s best female cyclists will battle it out in the Lochard Energy Warrnambool Women’s Cycling Classic.
Warrnambool residents can expect road closures from Hopkins Bridge and Raglan Parage.
To coincide with these events, a range of fun activities have been planned for the ‘event village’ on Raglan Parade – offering fun for children on both days.
The ‘event village’ will open at 11.30am Saturday.
The Powercor Air Bucket will lift spectators high above the event village while the Powercor basketball ring will give participants the chance to win a basketball by making two from three shots.
The Noodledoof bar will be open along with a barbecue, ice creams and coffees. Watch the action on the giant screen or take along a picnic rug.
From 12 noon all the action of the race will be shown on the big screen – and watch as the South West TAFE Port Campbell Handicap battle it out on Raglan Parade.
Riders in the Powercor Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic are expected to cross the finish line from 1.30pm onwards and at 6pm the 3YBFM Legends of Cycling Dinner will feature interviews with new inductee Warrny legend Terry Stacey and former pro and PSL founder Matt Wilson.
On Sunday the event village will open at 11am - four Lochard Energy bike blenders will let spectators ride a bike while making a free smoothie.
Lochard Energy are shouting the crowd free ice creams and free coffees, as well as face painting for the kids!
Again, from 12noon, all the cycling action will be shown on the big screen and from 1.30pm riders in the Lochard Energy Warrnambool Women’s Cycling Classic are expected to cross the finish line.
