Orford rally a success
WITH everything from displays of vintage tractors and stationary engines through to motorcycles and beaut utes, the Orford Vintage Rally truly had something for everyone.
Hundreds of collectors and enthusiasts travelled to the over the weekend of January 20 and 21 for the popular annual event.
Trucks, cars, motorcycles, tools, machinery, utes and collectables covered the oval and caused great interest among visitors.
According to organiser David Bartlett, the model boat pond and blade shearing demonstrations were extremely popular – and some even took advantage of the chance to “have a go with the blades”.
“We had an absolutely terrific day,” he said.
“We couldn’t be happier; the weather was kind and people really came out in numbers to enjoy everything that was on offer.
“There was a lot to look at and the Orford grounds really make for the perfect bush sitting; we’re thrilled with how the weekend went.”
Mr Bartlett believes this year’s event was “up there among the best” in the event’s 27-year history.
Members of the Hamilton Re-enactment Society provided plenty of entertainment throughout the day, while apprentice blacksmiths also showed off their skills and a tractor pull attracted interest among young and old.
“The committee is very grateful to all those who came along and had a look around, and to everyone who contributed towards the event’s success,” Mr Bartlett said.
