Parade aids disadvantaged children
SEQUINS, puffed sleeves and bright colours were all in abundance at this week’s fashion parade at Anchor Point Village.

Organised as a fundraiser by members of the Warrnambool Day VIEW Club, the parade of ball gowns from the 1990s was enjoyed by a large group of special guests on Monday afternoon.
“We all had a lovely day,” club president Helen Ellerton said.
“The girls all looked absolutely stunning in the gowns, which were made by Barbara Cathie, the sister of one of our members Helen.”
A raffle was run on the day and it is believed close to $1,600 was raised.
The Warrnambool Day VIEW (Voice, Interests and Education of Women) Club was formed in 1960 by The Smith Family as a service to women in the community.
VIEW Clubs of Australia is The Smith Family’s largest community sponsor of disadvantaged Australian children on the ‘Learning for Life’ program.
“Our sponsorship money provides money for school uniforms, books, excursions and school camps,” Ms Ellerton said.
The Smith Family also provides after school homework clubs, reading programs and assists with computer packages.
The Warrnambool club currently sponsors eight students from years one through to year 12.
The club currently has 62 members who enjoy various social activities throughout the year, along with one main fundraiser (such as this week’s parade).
Meetings are held on the last Monday of the month at the Warrnambool Football Netball Club.
During the meetings they also have a trading table and raffle to raise funds.
