Raiders top women's comp
WITH just three rounds left to play of the Warrnambool District women’s cricket competition, Brierly Northern Raiders remains top of the ladder.
The Raiders, who have lost just one of their seven games to date, sit just above Hawkesdale with Allansford Panmure in third and Nestles in fourth.
In front of a home crowd last Sunday, the Raiders lost the toss against Russells Creek and was sent in to bat.
Opener Grace Butters continues to show good form with the bat and notched up an unbeaten 52 from 41 balls, which included eight boundaries.
Team-mate Jessica Quinlivan was also handy at the crease, contributing 38 runs from 36 balls which included six boundaries.
The Raiders finished their 25-over innings at 5/158.
In reply Russells Creek were contained to 8/53 with opener Brooke Herbertson (10) the only batter to reach double figures.
In other round seven matches on the weekend, Nestles 6/160 easily accounted for Mortlake 7/53 and Cobden enjoyed a home ground win over North Warrnambool, while Allansford Panmure went down to visitors, Hawkesdale.
Round eight this weekend will see the Raiders take on Mortlake at Farran Oval on Saturday night.
Sunday’s action will see the Gators home to Cobden, Russells Creek will face North Warrnambool and Hawkesdale will host Nestles.
