Volunteers are the heart and soul of the café, regularly gathering to share their passion for repair and reuse.

The café will be open tomorrow, Saturday February 17, from 10am until 12 noon at the recently restored Historic Railway Goods Shed – adding a touch of nostalgia to the already vibrant event.

Over the past four years, the café has hosted 28 events and has welcomed 450 people through the doors.

Against the backdrop of the Goods Shed, volunteers and visitors will again gather to fix, mend and celebrate.

Under the guidance of coordinator Natasha Mills, the Repair Café has become a fantastic resource for locals seeking to extend the lifespan of their belongings while reducing their environmental footprint.

From bikes to clothing, electrical items to jewellery and everything in between, the Repair Café offers a wide range of services to meet the diverse needs of the community.

“The Railway Goods Shed holds a special place in the hearts of many Port Fairy residents,” Ms Mills said.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to host our anniversary celebration in such a historic and iconic location.

“It’s a fitting tribute to the timeless values of resourcefulness and community spirit that the Repair Café embodies.”

Since its inception, the Repair Café has been a testament to the power of collective action.

With a team of skilled volunteers on hand each month, the café has successfully repaired over 500 items, diverting more than 1.7 tonnes of material from landfill.

From fixing broken appliances to mending cherished heirlooms, the Repair Café has truly become a cornerstone of sustainability in the community.

As the anniversary celebration approaches, all are invited to join in the festivities.

Whether you’re a seasoned repair enthusiast or simply curious about sustainable living, there’s something for everyone at the Repair Café.

So dust off that old bicycle, gather up those torn clothes and join the crew for a morning of repair, rejuvenation and celebration.
