Season opener set for April 5
THE 2025 Hampden Football Netball League season is set to kick off on Saturday, April 5.
Launching the new season fixture earlier this week, the league announced a major change to its 2025 program with the grand final to be held on the AFL grand final public holiday – Friday, September 26.
This move marks the first time the HFNL decider will align with the public holiday.
The Good Friday clash will take place on April 18 between Koroit and reigning premiers South Warrnambool at Victoria Park.
This clash is sure to draw a huge crowd when the two powerhouses go head-to-head under the Easter spotlight.
In honour of ANZAC Day, the Hampden League will stage two marquee matches on Friday, April 25.
Hamilton will take on Portland at the newly redeveloped Melville Oval while Terang Mortlake and Cobden will clash at Wilson’s DC Farran Oval.
The 2025 fixture will also include an Indigenous round (round seven) on May 24.
This will celebrate and highlight the contribution Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have made to the game of football and netball in the region.
Interleague will resume against the Ballarat FNL on July 5, with Ballarat hosting next year’s game (venue to be confirmed).
Once again some clubs will feature in Super Saturday contests, delivering an action-packed day of football and netball at the nominated venue.
The league, in collaboration with multiple clubs, has also organised ‘Hybrid Saturdays’ in 2025.
This will see all senior and junior football teams play on the same day across two venues/ovals within the hosting team’s township.
Camperdown, Terang Mortlake, Koroit, Port Fairy and the Hamilton Kangaroos will feature in many of these fixtures.
