The Jim Robinson Pavilion at the showgrounds will once again host the shearing and wool handling competitions and according to one of the organisers, Brooke Siegle, the October 26 event is shaping up to be another great one.

“Last year we had more than 60 entries across the divisions and we’re confident we can attract just as many, if not more, this year,” Brooke said.

“Entries are now open on-line, on the Warrnambool Show website, and will be accepted up until 5pm on Friday, October 25.

“We will accept a limited number of entries on show day, depending on sheep availability.”

Entries are invited in the open and senior wool handling classes along with open, senior, intermediate and novice shearing.

Some great prizes will be up for grabs in each of the divisions, with judges looking for both quality and speed from entrants.

“The shearing and wool handling competitions have become an integral part of the Warrnambool Show, with a long history of inclusion,” Ms Siegle said.

“We would love to see the event back to what it once was in the earlier days; big entry numbers and huge crowds packing the shed on show day to watch all the action.

“We’re very fortunate to have Nick Slattery from Woolsthorpe supplying sheep on the day and are always looking for sponsorship.”

The action will start at around 8.30am on show day and will continue throughout the day and into the early evening.
