‘Slightly Cracked’ can now be watched online, bringing theatre to homes across the district.

Jennifer Monk, who co-wrote, directed and performed this show with her all-female artist collective, ‘Girls Act Good,’ is now inviting locals to enjoy her most recent show, ‘Slightly Cracked.’

“I recently returned to the stage and did a show in Melbourne at the La Mama Theatre and it was filmed earlier this month,” Ms Monk said.

“It is now available to watch online and I believe this is a great initiative by La Mama Theatre; allowing people to watch live theatre from the comfort of their homes – which is particularly beneficial to those who can’t travel to Melbourne to see or access it.”

The show tells the story of new mum Nadia who is at crisis point and checks into the Head to Health facility for some much-needed respite.

This new age facility provides free, around the clock mental healthcare as well as deluxe spa treatments, facials, yoga, cocktails and more….but is it too good to be true?

“Drawing upon real stories and interviews, this show explores the often grotesque nature of mental health treatment for women over time, and aims to shine a light on women’s resilience in such circumstances, shedding shame and stigma for the future,” Ms Monk said.

“My great aunt was put into the Kew asylum and died there two weeks later.

“Because women’s health and mental health was stigmatised, people weren’t given the proper treatment or listened to. This show is our way of giving a voice to those who go unheard and unnoticed when it comes to mental health.”
