Talented netballers identified at c’ships
NETBALL Victoria has this week released its ‘talented identified athletes’ from last month’s western region zone championships.
The championships, held in Warrnambool, were dominated by Hampden League who won all three major junior divisions.
Netball Victoria conducts talent identification during its competitions and tournaments throughout the year.
Talent scouts asses athletes to be considered for invitation to trial for the Netball Victoria Talent Academy and state 17 and under and 19 and under programs.
Congratulations to all athletes who were identified to trial for the 2024 talent academy and state team programs.
From the 2023 talent academy, the following netballers were chosen – Kate Aikman, Indiana Cameron, Eden James, Hannah O’Keefe, Shelby O’Sullivan, Ebony Porter, Olivia Lenehan and Isabella McDowall.
A strong performance at the championships in Warrnambool saw the following Hampden League netballers selected for the upcoming trials: Lara Clarke, Chloe Gleeson, Saskia Gould, Sophie Kennedy, Lyla Molloy, Indi O’Connor, Indigo Sewell, Elsie Sinnott, Tyra Slater and Saylah Veale.
Lacey Broad and Tegan McKay from the Mininera and District Netball Association have also been selected, along with Warrnambool City’s Neve MacDonald, Dana Russell, Sienna Wickenton and Maddi Crowe.
Warrnambool and District will be represented by Ellie Christoforou, Holly Delaney, Paige Lenehan, Aleara Madex, Ruby McKinley, Reagan Mifsud and Amelia Reynolds.
The 2024 Talent Academy trials (western region) will be held on Sunday November 26 at the Ballarat Netball Association.
