Tehan pledge for safer streets
FOUR key locations across Warrnambool look set to receive CCTV cameras if the Dutton Coalition Government wins the upcoming election.

Speaking in Warrnambool last Friday, Member for Wannon Dan Tehan said $220,000 would be provided from a revitalised Safer Communities Fund (SF) if the Dutton Coalition succeeds.
“I believe these four CCTV cameras across Warrnambool will enhance security for businesses, residents and visitors,” Mr Tehan said.
“In collaboration with Warrnambool City Council and Victoria Police, key sites have been identified to address rising crime concerns and improve public safety.”
Those sites are in Lava Street (opposition Kermonds and the Coles entrance); Lava Street (in front of Centrelink); the Warrnambool Breakwater; and the corner of Raglan Parade and Fairy Street (adjacent to Macs Hotel/Macey’s Bistro).
Mr Tehan believes this funding would help ensure people in the Warrnambool community felt safe as they go about their daily lives.
“This funding is a direct response to the concerns raised by our community,” Mr Tehan said.
“I’ve heard firsthand from Warrnambool residents that safety is a priority, and we’re responding with practical measures to help make public spaces safer for everyone.
“These CCTV upgrades will deter crime, support police, and give locals greater peace of mind.”
Mr Tehan said a future Liberal Government was committed to ensuring Warrnambool remained a safe and welcoming place.
Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Cyber Security, Senator James Paterson, said under a Dutton Liberal Government the Warrnambool community would be stronger, more secure, and better supported to tackle crime.
“Getting Australia back on track means keeping Australia safe – safe for families, safe for businesses, and safe for communities,” Senator Paterson said.
“Projects delivered under the Safer Communities Fund will help protect local communities by ensuring they have appropriate security infrastructure in place such as CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and security lighting.”
