Tigers to face Power

MERRIVALE will take on Kolora Noorat in this Saturday’s Warrnambool District preliminary final.

By Staff Writer

The Tigers, who finished the home and away season minor premiers, went down to the second-placed Nirranda in last Saturday’s qualifying final at Mack Oval.

Kolora Noorat will head into tomorrow’s clash on a high after overcoming a strong Panmure outfit in last Sunday’s semi-final at Allansford.

The Power ended the Bulldogs’ finals campaign with a 16-point victory. Nirranda, who finished the home and away season in second spot on the league ladder, dominated the previously undefeated Merrivale side last weekend.

Mack Oval proved a happy hunting ground for the Blues, who opened their day with a quick five goals three while restricting the Tigers to three straight goals.

The second term was a low scoring affair, with the Tigers adding 1.3 to the scoreboard while Nirranda was kept scoreless. A six-point lead at the main break was enough to spur Nirranda on in the third, kicking 2.3 to extend their lead to 19 points going into the final term.

The final term saw both sides struggle to make any real dent on the scoreboard, with Nirranda clenching victory on the siren, 8.8.56 to 4.7.31.

Reagan Nutting, Mathew Lloyd, James Willsher, Brayden Harkness, John Paulin and Dylan Lees were best for Nirranda. For the Tigers, Tyler Stephens, Angus Campbell, Hamish Gurry, Samuel Doukas, Jalen Porter and Sean Barnes were in the best.

The winner of tomorrow’s clash will earn the right to take on Nirranda in next week’s grand final.
