Track race-ready
ALL eyes are on the skies in the lead-up to this weekend’s final event on the racing calendar at the Terang track.

The Terang and District Racing Club will hold its sixth and final race meeting for season 2023 this Sunday and club president Shane Scally is hoping for fine weather and big crowds.
“We’ve had an army of volunteers working hard to ensure the track and the surrounds are in top-condition for our final meeting this weekend,” Scally said.
“We’re pretty lucky to have the volunteers we do, now we’re just hoping the community will come out and support our final day of the season and enjoy what will no doubt be a great day of racing.”
Along with the on-track action, Sunday’s Terang Cup day will also feature Fashions on the Field and, for the younger race-goers, Kelly Sports.
The program will feature two benchmark 70 races and a benchmark 78.
“There will be something for everyone on Sunday; there’ll be plenty of food and drinks to keep people well nourished, we will have a big screen on course for the first time and the team from Kelly Sports will entertain the youngsters,” Scally said.
“We anticipate the final race fields will be released sometime Thursday and we’re confident it will be an eight-race meeting with quality entries throughout.”
Terang Racing Club track manager Daniel Lynch said the grounds were “looking beautiful.”
“We kept the water off the track last week because we knew the rain was coming over the long weekend,” Lynch said.
“We had about 30ml earlier this week so it was the right decision. It (the track) might be rated soft by Sunday but we will know more closer to the day.”
Gates are scheduled to open at 11.30am and buses will run from Terang to and from the racecourse.
