Victory for Nestles

IN what was a grand final rematch, Nestles took the honours over Russells Creek in Warrnambool District League cricket last weekend.

In a reversal from last season’s premiership match, Nestles was able to overcome the reigning premiers and notch up its first win of the season. 

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Russells Creek opener Jeremy Kiensrod made a formidable knock of 71 off 103 balls before he was dismissed.

Kiensrod was well supported on the board by Rukshan Weerasinghe who contributed an unbeaten 51 from 56 balls which included five boundaries and a six. 

Other top scorers for the side were Noah Best not out on 24 and Hamish Huffadine who added 20. 

The side finished on 6/198 for its 45 overs. In reply, Nestles’ reached 3/200 after 32 overs with Benjamin Dobson making an unbeaten 87 off 80 balls – including two sixes and 12 boundaries. 

Opener Geoff Williams also impressed with the bat, hitting nine boundaries in his 55-run innings while Wil Hinkley contributed 27 and William Ringin finished not out on 17. 

Best of the bowlers were Russells Creek were Noah Best 2-37 off six and Craig Britten 1-30 off five while for Nestles, Geoff Williams took 3-35 from nine and Matt Noonan 1-41 off eight.
